Buddy Macuha is a leading master trainer with more than 20 years of teaching experience in the fitness and yoga industry. Movement and performance have been an integral part of Buddy’s professional life, and today he trains, motivates and inspires his students to greater physical wellbeing. Drawing from his experience as a gymnast, dancer, personal trainer, competitive athlete, holistic body worker, martial artist, and actor; he applies this diverse background to his teaching style.
His current certifications include Yogaworks, The American Council on Exercise, Aerobic and Fitness Association of America, Certified Massage Therapist, Tang Soo Do, and various kickboxing, cycling and aerobic modalities. His accomplishments include appearances on KRON 4, KPIX 5, Good Day Sacramento, NBC Network and KFOG Radio as their ‘fitness guru’. He is a 5-time IDEA Health & Fitness Presenter, has starred in multiple video projects and he’s taught his master training programs internationally. He can also be heard on ITrain.com teaching his signature yoga and spinning classes in a podcast format. He is currently finishing his degree in Kiniseology from San Francisco State University.
His list of acknowledgements include Group Exercise Manager of the Year - The Sports Club/LA (2004), San Francisco Guardian Best of the Bay (2004), 7x7 Magazine’s Best Step Class award (2003), Instructor of the Year - The Sports Club/LA (2002), San Francisco Chronicle’s Best Aerobics Instructor in the Bay Area (1998), Western Region Aerobic Champion (1998), and Instructor of the Year - Club One (1996). He has also provided regular interviews for the San Francisco Chronicle, SF Weekly, San Francisco Magazine, Daily Candy and Lifetime TV.
Buddy’s yoga practice began as a way to achieve balance while training for the National Aerobics Championship. Yoga facilitated the essential mind/body connection and reenergized his body, providing balance to the extreme physical and emotional demands of athletic competition. As his competitive days came to a close he deepened his study of yoga, cultivating mindfulness and enhancing his life “on and off the mat”. His wish is to help other yoga practitioners find similar health and self-discovery with each class.
Buddy is a Vinyasa specialist who finds a creative outlet in challenging student’s minds and bodies with interesting sequences and personal insight. He was trained through the Yogaworks teaching method and finds inspiration from his gurus Annie Carpenter and Julie Kleinman. His classes are known for their unique sequences, insightful cues and motivating music unlike any other class in the city!
Buddy's cycling career began teaching classes at a local health club. Today, he is a Master Trainer for Keiser Fitness Company and travels throughout the country teaching workshops. He holds certifications from Keiser, Johnny G. Spinning, LeMond REV, Precision Cycling, and Schwinn. His classes are known for their motivating music, cycle-based drills, and non-stop action!
